Expelled JD(U) state presidents stage sit-in in Delhi against Nitish’s
election, petition EC

 






Patna,(BiharTimes): A day after the Janata Dal (United)’s national council put a final stamp on the appointment of Nitish Kumar as its national president the four recently expelled state unit chiefs of the party on Monday staged a sit-on at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi challenging the Bihar chief minister’s elevation to this post.


Later they along with their suppoters submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission seeking its intervention and restoration of inner party democracy. They are of the view that Nitish was given the top post in violationof the party’s constitution.


According to outgoing Madhya Pradesh state unit  president Govind Yadav, till April last a Nitish loyalist, the Janata Dal (United) workers will observe October 17 as Loktantra Bachao Abhiyan. They demanded that the unconstitutional manner of election to the post of president be declared null and void.


As reported in BiharTimes earlier this month the party expelled Amitabh Datta of Bengal, Thakur Balbir Singh of Delhi and Pramod Sharma of Uttarakhand, besides Govind Yadav.
