Delhi-based brothers ‘abducted’ after landing at Patna airport

Patna,(BiharTimes): Two Delhi-based brothers engaged in business were allegedly abducted a few minutes after landing in Patna on Friday evening.

The abductors are said to be known to the brothers and in order to win their confidence, booked to and fro Delhi-Patna flight tickets and sent them through e-mail.

Suresh Sharma (40) and Kapil Sharma (27) arrived here to take part in a construction tender.

Though police denied ransom as the motive behind the incident reports say that the family has been asked either to pay Rs four crore ransom or see both the sons dead.

The incident came to light late on Saturday when the father of the two brothers, Babulal Sharma, arrived from Delhi and lodged an FIR with the Airport Police Station. The criminals had reportedly allured the Sharma brothers to visit Patna for a contract of Rs 200 crore.

According to father his sons informed him over phone that they had been abducted. However, there was no mention of ransom demand in FIR.

Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaaj said the two had been invited by an acquaintance to take part in a tender for construction-related work in Munger. The acquaintance had provided air tickets for the trip to Patna and received them when they arrived around 6.30pm on Friday by a GoAir flight.

After waiting at airport for a few minutes they all left for Munger in an SUV. Before setting off one of the brothers told the family they were fine.

When their father called around 9.30pm, they said they were on the roa d but called back a couple of minutes later to say they had been abducted.

The SSP said repeated calls after that went unanswered till the phones were switched off around 11pm.

But he ruled out the report that the two brothers had been kidnapped for ransom. The police have got some clues and efforts are on to rescue them.

Police sources said some persons have been detained in this case.

The Sharma family is originally from Rajasthan, but is settled in Delhi. They are also into marble business in UP, Rajasthan and Delhi.

A criminal gang of Lucknow is  on the police radar.

Earlier, both the brothers were spotted in the CCTV footage of the airport. Suresh, in black shirt and white pants, can be seen talking to someone over his mobile phone as the brothers were waiting for a vehicle to pick them up. The footage shows them roaming for about 12 minutes in front of the terminal building before both went towards the airport’s exit gate. Incidentally, the person who had invited them could not be found in CCTV footage. This raises the suspicion that he was aware of camera so he invited the brothers to come out.
