Court grants bail to excise inspector rejects JD (U) leader

Patna,(BiharTimes): A local court in Biharsharif on Tuesday granted bail to excise inspector Deepak Kumar, who was arrested about a week back by Nalanda police for conniving with a former mukhiya and implicating Harnaut block JD(U) President, Chandrajeet Sen in liquor storage case.

Former mukhiya Sumendra Kumar also got bail in the same case.

However, the court rejected the bail plea of Sen, who is still in jail.

The court decision came as an embarrassment to the state government.

It needs to be recalled that the excise inspector, acting on a tip off, had raided Chandrajeet Sen’s house on August 30 and recovered 168 bottles of liquor in seven cartons.

However, two days after Chandrajeet was arrested police arrested Deepak Kumar and Sumendra Kumar on charges of framing the JD(U) leader in the liquor case.

The argument was that the former mukhiya secretly planted all these bottles in the house of Sen to implicate him in the case.

Sumendra, according to police, did so to take revenge for the defeat of his wife at the hand of Sen’s wife in panchayat election.

It is said that as Chandrajeet is close to chief minister Nitish Kumar, the Nalanda district administration and police swung into action to save him.
