Rain fails to dampen KVians’ spirits

Patna,(BiharTimes):: With such a heavy spell of downpour, it was virtually a Monsoon wading for them.
But hundreds of former students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kankarbagh, braving the inclement weather, came under one roof at their alma mater and had a gala time on Sunday and Monday.

The two-day alumni meet and the golden jubilee function of the prestigious school saw the ex-students of all shape and size jostling with each other on the sprawling campus.

The golden jubilee meet, which had Education Department’s Principal Secretary DS Gangwar and Patna Divisional Commissioner Anand Kishore as its chief guest, also saw former students mingling with their teachers of yesteryears and turning nostalgic.

Earlier, the alumni meet turned into a musical soiree when Jayaprakash of 1982 batch took the centre-stage and entertained the audience with his soulful rendition of some Hindi numbers from 70s and 80s. Pal, pal dil ke pass and Tujhse naaraz nahin zindagi hai-raan hoon main received wide applause. Right from 1977 to 2014 batch, the former students were introduced in a phased manner and clicked together.

The most notorious of them all was 1984 batch. Rakesh Sinha, now working with the Indian Railways, reminisced some of the naughty moments of three decades back. So did others. And when it was time for music, even the girls (now women) let their hair down. While Neeta of 1985 batch enthralled everyone on Balam Pichkari number, Rajiv of 1984 batch made his peers dance on other racy songs. Eminent dentist Dr Binoy too shed his inhibitions and joined the party. Nishikant was at his best during a chaita song.

Later, former principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, DNP Sinha blessed these students, many of whom were now either civil servants, bankers, engineers, doctors, journalists, lawyers and businessmen. Assistant Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) KS Yadav and Principal Sudhakar Singh also graced the occasion. Income Tax Commissioner Ashwani Sinha of (1981 batch), Rajesh Lal (Assistant Commandant), Sudha, Sonali, Archana, Sunita, Babita, Pradeep Chandra and others were present at the meet.
