Patna,(BiharTimes): A third year student of NIT Patna (Mechanical Engineering), Akash Ranjan, died in mysterious circumstances in the state capital on Monday.

He was found unconscious with both wrists slit at Bhootnath Road under Agamkuan police station area.

Later he succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital. Police suspect it as a murder case.

Police have lodged an FIR on the basis of the statement of Ashish Ranjan, the younger brother of the deceased. According to the FIR Ashish lives in a rented room at Munna Chak, Rajendranagar where Akash went to meet him around 5 PM
on Saturday.

Akash, who used to live in a rented room near the NIT campus, the FIR said, appeared to be disturbed and did not talk much.

Ashish said he fell asleep but around 9.30 PM he got a call from his brother in his mobile phone. The latter told Ashish that he has to go to birthday party of Neelkamal, who is also a third year student of Electrical Engineering.

Neelkamal also lives in a rented room near Mahendru. But around 11pm someone called from Akash's number to informed that they were policemen and they found Akash lying on road unconscious.

Ashish, along with a cousin, immediately rushed to the Bhootnath Road where Akash was found by police. He was rushed to a nearby private nursing home from where he was referred to Paras hospital.

Akash, according to Ashish, told the police that Neelkamal gave him a drink in the birthday party which was perhaps poison and then a girl and a boy slit his wrists to kill him.

.Their father, Sunil Kumar, a farmer from Gaurichak was informed after Akash was shifted to Paras hospital.

Police have seized Akash's mobile phone from which they got to know that Akash was talking to a girl from Buxar for last couple of days.

However his batchmates said Akash was a very shy and calm boy and hardly ever indulged in any fight with anybody.
Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said it is unlikely for a person to cut both the wrist on his own. The police are waiting for the postmortem report to assert the actual reason of his death and are also looking for Neelkamal.
