As per request Siwan judge shifted to Patna

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Additional District and Sessions Judge of Siwan, Ajay Kumar Shrivastava, who had, a few months back, sentenced former RJD MP, Mohammad Shahabuddin, to life imprisonment in a double murder case, was transferred to Patna in the same capacity.

The Patna high court shifted him after he had on September 9, that is two days after Shahabuddin got bail, sought his transfer from Siwan.

Sources said he reportedly felt unsafe in Siwan following the release of Shahabuddin. The Nitish government in Bihar has provided security to him.

Shrivastava had headed the special court constituted for the trial of cases against Shahabuddin. He functioned from inside the Siwan jail, where Shahabuddin was lodged since his arrest in 2005 to May this year.

Tthe special court had, on December 11, 2015, sentenced the former MP to life imprisonment for the murder of two brothers, Satish Raj and Girish Raj. Their elder brother Rajeev Raushan, an eyewitness to their killings, was also murdered on June 16, 2014, three days before he was to depose before a trial court.

It was in the Raushan murder case that the Patna HC judge, Jitendra Mohan Sharma granted former RJD MP  bail earlier this month.

JD(U) spokesman Ajay Alok said the state government would provide security to Shrivastava.
