Bihar powerfully presents its points on Farakka siltation
Patna,(BiharTimes): Principal Secretary Water Resources Department of Bihar, Arun Kumar Singh, on Tuesday made a power point presentation before a committee constituted by Union Water Resources Ministry to show how siltation in the Ganga caused due to the Farakka Barrage had contributes to the repeated flooding in the state.
According to an official statement the committee headed by Madhav Chittle was formed at the initiative of the Bihar government.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar, during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a few weeks back, had drawn his attention towards the problem of siltation caused by Farakka Barrage.
He had urged the PM to sent a team to study the problem of situation and formulate a national silt policy.
The presentation in New Delhi was attended by Secretary of Union Water Resources ministry Shashi Sekhar and IIT Delhi Professor A K Gosain.
