Excise raids slow down after Pathak’s exit, claims SuMo

Patna,(BiharTimes): Former deputy chief ministerSushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday alleged that the drive against the liquor mafia had come down ever since K K Pathak, the then Excise Commissioner, went on leave early this month after 168 bottles of liquor were ‘recovered’ from the house of the Harnaut block (Nalanda district) Janata Dal (United) chief, Chandrajeet Sen, on August 30 last.

Talking to the media after the Janata Darbar he claimed that the number of raids and seizure of liquor bottles have come down drastically as the excise department has been handed over to already overburdened principal home secretary, Amir Subhani. The latter is looking aftter several other departments including General Administration Department.

Pathak reportedly took leave after the Nalanda police arrested excise sub-inspector, Deepak Kumar, who led the raids on Sen’s house last month.

Subhani was the excise commissioner in 2007 too when the Nitish Kumar government adopted new excise policy then.
