BJP suspends its Bihar unit vice president after sexually harassing fellow MLC

Patna,(BiharTimes): An embarrassed Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday suspended its state unit vice president Lal Babu Prasad, MLC, from the party and removed him from the post, two days after he was accused of sexually harassing a fellow LJP legislator in the premises of the Legislative Council.

Incidentally the victim, Nutan Singh, is the wife of a BJP MLA Niraj Kumar Singh Bablu.

As reported Niraj, who was then in the Assembly, had publicly slapped Lal Babu Prasad of his own party after he, on his cell phone, received a complaint from Nutan.

The incident reportedly took place after Lal Babu patted Nutan on her back when she was on the way to Legislative Council.

This was something very unusual as both the incidents––patting and slapping––took place within the premises of the stte state Legislature.

The BJP, which initially denied the inicidents, took two days to suspend Prasad and that too after protest from the ruling Grand Alliance members as well as murmuring from within as both the perpetrator and victim were of the same side. LJP, to which Nutan belongs, is an ally of the BJP.

The incident has been widely condemned in the social media.

However, no police case has yet been lodged as efforts are on within the saffron party to hush up or underplay the matter.
