Tejaswi mocks BJP’s anti-Romeo campaign, questions media’s silence

Patna,(BiharTimes): Deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and his brother, health minister Tej Pratap Yadav, as well as other Rashtriya Janata Dal, Janata Dal (United) and Congress leaders have, through social media and other means, cornered the BJP on the Lal Babu Prasad sexual harassment case.

Calling it the media’s “double standard” Tejashwi questioned the silence of the media on the Lal Babu Prasad sexual harassment issue. He took a dig at the BJP’s anti-Romeo squad in Uttar Pradesh.

“Let BJP first take care of its own Romeos, then think of action against other Romeos,” he said.

RJD leaders alleged that the media is grossly underplaying the whole issue. While some newspaper made it a small first page news on the first day some others chose to push it in inside page, though something very unprecedented had happened. While some regional channels reported the incident most national channels chose to black it out though those involved in this unsavoury incidents were senior BJP leaders of the state, RJD leaders said.

Independent observers are of the view that there is no denying the fact that the media underplayed the news for obvious reasons. “Had two ruling alliance legislators fought after the sexual harassment of one’s wife it would certainly have made the first news in all the national channels. This would have been followed by panel discussions and call for arrest of the culprit. But no such thing had happened,” an analyst told BiharTimes.
