After chief secretary’s clean chit, RJD seeks SuMo’s resignation

Patna,(BiharTimes): A day after the chief secretary of Bihar Anjani Kumar Singh gave a clean chit to the family of Lalu Prasad Yadav in the so-called soil purchase scam Rashtriya Janata Dal on Saturdaysought the resignation from all the posts of former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

Party spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan said Sushil Modi had alleged that the Patna Zoo purchased soil worth Rs 90 lakh without floating tenders. He had also alleged the soil was dug out from the basement of a mall coming up on a plot of land owned by forest and environment minister Tej Prasad Yadav and deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. SuMo had also said that he would resign from all the posts if his allegations were proved wrong.

Gagan said that now since the chief secretary had personally examined all the documents related to the soil purchased by Patna Zoo and prima facie found no irregularities the former deputy CM should resign from all the posts.

The chief secretary, according to RJD spokesman, also said the soil worth only Rs nine lakh and not Rs 90 lakh, was purchased as was charged by Sushil Modi.

The chief secretary also clarified that the total expenditure involved in the earth-filling work at Patna Zoo was just around Rs 41 lakh. Gagan said that not only should Sushil Modi resign from all the posts, including membership of the legislative council, he should also tender a public apology for misleading people and making an unsuccessful attempt to defame the family of Lalu Prasad. SuMo has so far not said anything on the issue.
