BJP, RLSP leaders among beneficiaries of scam: SIT





Patna,(BiharTimes): The name of a BJP and an RLSP leader figure in the list of beneficiaries of the infamous Bhagalpur’s Srijan Scam. Officially, the amount embezzled now crossed Rs 764 crores and is likely to go even higher.

BJP leader of Bhagalpur district Vishal Sharma is on the radar of SIT, which is probing the matter.

According to SIT Sharma, a realtor and was said to be close to Manorama Devi, the late founder of Srijan. Sharma owns big showrooms at Tilka Manjhi Chowk and Khalifabad localities of Bhagalpur town. The SIT has also come to know about his properties in Patna, Deoghar, Delhi and Mumbai.

He is presently out of town.

Rashtriya Lok Samata Party leader, Dipak Verma,  and Kishore Kumar, another businessman, also figure on the SIT’s list.

Verma and Kumar own property in Bhagalpur, Patna, Delhi and other big cities across the country.

Raids were conducted at the hideouts of about half a dozen beneficiaries but nobody could be arrested.

Another suspected beneficiary Prem Kumar, a stenographer in the office of the Bhagalpur district magistrate who has been arrested, owned flats, bungalows and land in Bhagalpur, Patna, Calcutta and Delhi. The SIT had found documents related to his property during search of his government quarters in Bhagalpur on Friday.

Prem hails from Jehanabad and was considered very close to a former Bhagalpur district magistrate.

A K Singh, a retired Bank of Baroda official who was arrested on Saturday over the scam, was sent to jail on Sunday.

So far, eight persons have been arrested and seven FIRs have been lodged against public servants, bank officials and those of the NGO. Amit Kumar and his wife Priya Kumar, Manorama’s son and daughter-in-law, are evading arrest.
