Is Lalu finding Ranchi media less hostile?

Patna,(BiharTimes): It seems that Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has got a less hostile––if not friendly––media in Jharkhand capital, Ranchi. That is why ever since July 28 he has made it a point to address Press conference and would in great detail explain his position.

On July 28 he held a long Press conference yet he remained cool and calm and fielded questions comfortably even though he could hardly sleep in the night because of the resignation drama of Nitish Kumar in Patna on July 27 evening.

It was on that very night that Lalu had to travel to Ranchi to apper in the CBI court yet he showed no sign of tension. He did not let the people feel that his sons had lost power. In contrast Nitish, who remained in power, was tense.

Ever since that day Lalu has been visiting Ranchi regularly and addressing media almost all the time. He did the same on August 17 too.

Now in the form of multi-crore Srijan Scam of Bhagalpur he had got an opportunity to pay chief minister and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi back in the same coin.

Unlike in Patna the media in Jharkhand’s capital is not so aggressive or hostile. They are allowing RJD chief to speak and not interrupting to distract him from the issue.

Media-watchers are of the view that Lalu is master in judging the attitude of the Press. So he is exploiting the situation for his own end. He knows that mediapersons in Bihar, especially in Patna, dance
to the tune of Nitish Kumar and often ‘disrupt’ Press conferences by asking frivolous questions.

For example, on August 17, while presenting documents on Bhagalpur scam he said that he had talked to all the editos and have asked them why their reporters (obviously of Bihar) are not reporting the embezzlement of Rs 1,000 crore government money.
