Centre repatriates four Bihar cadre IAS officers

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Union government has repatriated four senior IAS officers of Bihar cadre to their parent state.

According to a notification issued by the Union department of personnel and training (DoPT) on Wednesday they are Sunil Kumar Singh (1983 batch), Subhash Sharma (1984 batch), Uday Singh Kumawat (1993 batch) and Safeena AN (1997 batch).

While Sunil Kumar Singh was serving as additional secretary in the agriculture and farmers’ welfare ministry, Subhash Sharma was working with the information and broadcasting ministry. Kumawat was serving as joint secretary in the department of revenue under the finance ministry and Safeena as development commissioner of the Cochin Special Economic Zone, respectively.

In June last, chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh had submitted a list of 14-secretary rank officers to the central government, requesting it to repatriate Bihar-cadre officers as the state was facing an acute shortage of civil servants.

Bihar has a sanctioned strength of 342 IAS officers, but sources said the state has only 251 serving officers, including those from other cadre on inter-state deputation. Forty-two of them were on central deputation and five on inter-state deputation.
