Five policemen suspended after security breach at CM’s residence

Patna,(BiharTimes):  Two Inspector rank  officers were among five policemen suspended on Monday for dereliction of duty following the breach of security at the chief minister Nitish Kumar’s official residence.

Supporters of rebel JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav had on Saturday clashed with the JD(U) workers who had assembled there to attend the party’s National Executive meet.

Supporters of Sharad allegedly tried to enter the 1 Anne Marg residence on Saturday. They were on two-wheelers and a part of Sharad Yadav’s cavalcade from Patna airport to S K Memorial Hall, where a parallel meeting––Jan Adalat––was organized.

It remained a mystery as to how the carcade was allowed to pass through this route.

Those suspended are Station House Officer of Sachivalay police station (under which CM’s residence falls), a Sergeant Major of police line, two Sub Inspectors and one Assistant Sub-Inspector.

The suspension was ordered by Patna Zone Inspector General of Police Naiyer Hasnain Khan on the basis of the report of the SSP Manu Maharaj.

Patna police has arrested more than a dozen people after identifying them from CCTV cameras installed at the venue.

A  case was lodged at Schivalay police station.
