Magadh Mahila College bans jeans, skirts, mobiles

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Magadh Mahila College, a premier girls’ college of Patna University, has once again decided to enforce dress code on the campus. A dress designer was invited in the College on Thursday to decide the unifroms for the girls. The College had taken similar initiative in the past too.

The Patna Women’s College, another PU college, already has its dress-code.

The new dress code would come into effect from January next. Now the girls would not be allowed to wear jeans, shorts, skirts, leggings etc and would not be allowed to come with make up. Even mobile phones have been banned.

According to the new principal of the College Shashi Sharma girls need to be decently dressed and full concentration would be made on classes from Monday to Friday. It is only on Saturdays that extra-curricular activities would be allowed.

However, a section of girls do not approve the dress code while others feel that they have only reservation on the ban imposed on leggings. “There is nothing wrong in leggings. It is just like “chori-daar pyjama”. We buy it as it is easily available,” one of them said.

The principal said that she had taken this step after consulting the students and that it is in their  interest.

There are in all over 4,000 students in Magadh Mahila College.
