PMC to impose penalty if not informed about big party/feast





Patna,(BiharTimes): The Patna Municipal Corporation is going to impose penalty of Rs 10,000 if it is not informed about any party or feast in which 100 guests are invited.

The new rule would come into effect from January 1, 2018.

This has been done to ensure the waste generated from party is disposed of in a correct manner as per the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016.

According to PMC Commissioner Abhishek Singh waste management is not only the duty of the  state government, but also of the people. The PMC should be informed three days before the function so that proper arrangements could be made.

The Rules also applied to hotels and hospitals. They have already been told to put in place an effective waste disposal system or face a penalty of upto Rs 5,000 in case of starred hotel and Rs 3,000 for upto 50 bed hosptials and Rs 5,000 for marriage halls.

Incidentally, garbage generated at religious places has been kept out of the purview of the penalty.

Fine of Rs 5,000 would be imposed on burning of solid wastes in open.
