Brajesh quits as BPCC vice president; victim threatens self-immolation

Patna,(BiharTimes): Brajesh Pandey, one of the vice presidents of the Bihar Congress, resigned from his post on Tuesday after being booked in a Dalit girl sexual abuse case.

He also quit from the post of the chairman of the Programme Implementation Committee of the party against demonetization.

Brajesh reiterated that the entire episode was a political conspiracy to defame him.

As reported he is in Gorakhpur and would be back to Patna on February 25.

Police have already issued an arrest order after including Brajesh’s name in the supervision note of the case.

Harkhu Jha, the state Congress spokesman, confirmed the acceptance of resignation.

Meanwhile, the victim is not hopeful of the case making much headway. “I do not see any substantial progresss taking place in the case. I found courage only after CM Nitish Kumar’s assurance of quick action,” she was quoted in the media. She said she had met him last week.

The girl said that she had met many top officials for justice in the last two months but to no avail. Nobody has so far been arrested.

She threatened that she would commit self-immolation if she do not get justice.
