When Lalu was made to sit in VIP gallery, not stage, at PM’s programme

Patna,(BiharTimes): Independent political observers and some RJD leaders were upset over the way party supremo Lalu Prasad and his two sons were not given ‘due place’ on the dais from which Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed on Thursday. The three were made to sit in the VIP gallery in Gandhi Maidan just beside the platform.

Among other dignitaries from Punjab and Union ministers like Ram Vilas Paswan, Ravi Shankar Prasad etc, chief minister Nitish Kumar and stategovernor Ramnath Kovind were present on the stage.
Nitish sat between Modi and Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Though Lalu did not make it an issue, yet party’s vice president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh took up the issue and said that the party rank and file may feel offended.

Lalu and his sons were even present at the lunch and prime minister even chatted briefly with health minister Tej Prasad. Lalu apparently may not raise the issue for larger political reason yet there is no dearth of people in his own party and some vested interest in the media who would try to make it an issue.

From the state government side it was said that as per protocol it was not possible to accommodate Lalu or his sons on the stage. What was also closely observed in the media was the bonhomie shown by the BJP leaders towards Bihar CM. As Nitish was sitting in between Modi and Ravi Shankar the two leaders were seen constantly talking to Nitish.
