Lalu’s trip to Bihar Congress office sends message to friends, rivals

Patna,(BiharTimes): Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s visit to Sadaquat Ashram, Congress party’s headquarters in Bihar on Monday, is being given much significance in the political circle in the state.

This is the first such trip to the Congress party’s office in more than a decade. Last time Lalu visited it when Rabri Devi was the chief minister.

Though he was in the office to attend a book release function yet what he spoke on the present political situation is more important.

Besides, much to the astonishment of many he was warmly greeted by the top Congress leaders, including BPCC chief and education minister Ashok Chaudhary and his ministerial colleague Awadesh Singh.

Lalu chose the occasion to say two things: “Narendra Modi “saat janam mein bhi Gandhi ke barabar nahi ho paoge.” (Narendra Modi will not reach the stature of Gandhi even after seven births),  he said while assailing the prime minister  for using his picture in the Khadi and Village Industries Commission diary and calendar.

Referring to Haryana minister Anil Vij’s remarks that Modi is a better brand name than Gandhi, RJD chief said the nation is ashamed of such utterances by BJP leaders.

The second significant thing which Lalu said was on the UP politics.

He said Priyanka Gandhi and UP CM Akhilesh Singh’s wife Dimple Yadav have already formed an alliance and the RJD and the Congress would campaign together there

RJD chief said  that he spoke to Congress president Sonia Gandhi a week ago over phone and she agreed to campaign together in UP.

Lalu said he told Soniaji, the UP elections is not only for UP, but it is for the entire country. The result of UP election will decide the future course of the politics of the country.

Earlier, Lalu released the book “Sabse Pahle Desh, Baad Mein Shesh” written by freedom fighter Vishnu Dev Prasad.

The enthusiastic welcome Lalu received and the speech given by him have sent message to both the friends and rivals.

The growing proximity between him and Congress, especially after demonetization, is being watched closely by Janata Dal (United), which had taken a different position recently.

Apart from this, never in the recent years the Congress rank and file have shown so much warmth towards Lalu.

The manner in which Lalu decided to throrw his lot behind Akhilesh and alliance partner Congress may rattle the BJP in UP as it was banking on the split of votes.
