JD(U) upset over failure of formation of Bihar type Grand Alliance in UP

Patna,(BiharTimes): The JD (U) national spokesman, K C Tyagi, said on Thursday that the pre-poll alliance between Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress would help the BJP in Uttar Pradesh in the coming Assembly elections as it has failed to take into its fold all the secular forces.

Talking to the media he said his party always wanted to form a Bihar-type Grand Alliance in Uttar Pradesh to keep BJP out of power. It would have paved the way for clear victory of secular forces in 2019 Lok Sabha elections as well.

According to him the alliance of Samajwadi Party and Congress cannot be termed a ‘Gathbandhan’ (alliance) in true sense as it has left other like-minded secular parties.

Tyagi said his party was not contacted or consulted either by the SP or Congress. He said JD(U) is trying to bring other like-minded parties on one platform and keep BJP out of power.

Another party leader Shyam Rajak said the Janata Dal (United) is expanding its base and would contest in those constituencies where it can work as a force to defeat BJP and its allies. It would have been better if all secular and socialist forces were in alliance.

He said his party would take a final decision on the seats it would contest in UP within the next few days.

JD(U) leaders are a bit upset as the SP and Congress ignored Rashtriya Lok Dal and their own party. These two parties have come closer to each other in UP in recent months.
