Unchained BJP bigwigs sing Narendra Modi Zindabad tune in Swian, not Patna
Patna,(BiharTimes): Though Bihar BJP had announced its support to the human chain the state party top brass were conspicuous by their absence from the main function at Gandhi Maidan on Saturday afternoon.
They had an excuse as they were busy in the two-day (Jan 21-22) state executive meeting of the party in Siwan.
Apart from chief minister Nitish Kumar, RJD president Lalu Prasad and his two minister sons, members of state cabinet and others took part in the main function.
However, in Siwan former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi and leaders like Shahnawaz, Mangal Pandey etc formed human chain. Much to the surprise of many they raised slogans “Narendra Modi Zindabad.”
Though chief minister Nitish Kumar had announced long back about the human chain the BJP chose the same date for its state executive as it was initially opposed to any such show.
But after January 5 prime minister Narendra Modi’s praise for prohibition the state BJP chief Nityanand Rai on January 10 announced his party’s support for human chain. Yet leaders like Sushil Modi had his reservation on prohibition because of Draconian provisions of the new excise law.
In spite of lending support to human chain the saffron party rank and file was reluntant to join it.
The party leader tried to play down the success of January 21 human chain and described it as the government’s spider web to distract attention of the people from the failing law and order situation.
On the other hand Union minister Giriraj Singh refused to participate in the event.
