Honour of ballot bigger than that of a daughter, feels Sharad

Patna,(BiharTimes): “Ballot paper ke bare mein samjhane ki zarurat hai... Beti ki izzat se vote ki izzat badi hai... Beti ki izaat jayegi to gaon aur mohalle ki izzat jayegi aur vote ek baar bik gaya to desh ki izzat jayegi.”

This was how former Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav commented while speaking on the declining trend in electoral politics.

Stating that the honour of ballot was bigger than that of a daughter he, while speaking on the occasion of birth anniversary of former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur in Patna on Tuesday, said that the country was going through a phase where money power and vote power has joined hands which was a dangerous trend.

He regretted that his party, Janata Dal (United), which wanted to fight the Uttar Pradesh elections is finding it difficult to do so because of lack of resources.

Sharad said one has to spend Rs. 25-30 crore to become an MP and Rs 5-10 crore to become an MLA. He said that he had run the party for a long time but he had never faced such problem earlier. Resources have become a big problem in politics today. Votes are being bought and sold now a days
