Rise in number of labourers getting work under MGNREGS in post-demonetization months
Patna,(BiharTimes): The number of labourers who got work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in several migrant exporting states––especially Bihar––in the post-demonetization months of November and December 2016 shows a jump over the corresponding period in the financial year 2013-14, which too was a normal monsoon year. The monsoon was below normal in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
The rise in number confirms that there is a big increase in the reverse migration of labourers to Bihar and other states.
Reports said that spending under MGNREGS could touch a record Rs 58,000 crore in 2016-17.
