“JD(U) not to attend RJD rally as a party, Nitish may or may not as an individual”

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Janata Dal (United), as a party, will not attend the August 27 rally of Rashtriya Janata Dal to be held in Patna.

However, chief minister Nitish Kumar, who is also the national president of the party, may attend it if he gets invitation.

This information was given by the national general secretary of the party, Shyam Rajak, on Saturday.

According to Rajak it is an RJD rally and the JD(U) will not participate in it as a party. If JD (U) national president gets an invite, he would decide whether or not to attend the rally in his individual capacity.

Rajak’s statement at this juncture came as a surprise as the two alliance partners, RJD and Congress, are a bit upset with JD(U) after Nitish’s support to Ramnath Kovind, BJP’s Presidential candidate.

Besides, political observers are of the view, that there is no question of RJD not inviting Nitish Kumar when Lalu Prasad had publicly extended invitation to all the non-NDA partners to attend the rally.

Analysts feel that as Lalu had taken the initiative to bring together all the non-NDA parties––even Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, who was not in the UPA has been invited––JD(U) wants to maintain a safe distance from it..

Meanwhile, RJD president Lalu has convened a meeting of party office-bearers and elected representatives in Patna on July 5 to review preparations for the rally. The party will also celebrate its 21st establishment day at a function at the state party headquarters at Beer Chand Patel Marg on that day.
