As CM, deputy meet sends wrong signal, JD(U) once again toughens stand

Patna,(BiharTimes): Observing that the Tuesday evening meeting between chief minister Nitish Kumar and his beleaguered deputy, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, had sent a wrong signal the Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday afternoon once again changed gear and toughened its stand.

As the BJP went on offensive and alleged that Nitish Kumar had made compromise on the issue of corruption and that the JD(U) and RJD had been indulging in a shadow boxing the Janata Dal (United) once again took the old position.

On Wednesday party spokesman Dr Ajay Alok came out with another confusing statement.

“The RJD would have to clear itself in

public domain. Our stand has not changed,” he said.

His stand was at variance with the party’s national spokesman, K C Tyagi, given on Monday. He then told mediapersons that Tejashwi should clarify the matter before the chief minister. Now that this had happened on Tuesday evening Ajay Alok is saying that everything should be explained in public domain.

In contrast RJD chief Lalu Prasad had repeatedly said that everything is in public domain. The party had already explained its position. Where is the need to explain more?

According to a political observer, the matter needs to be explained before the court and not before any CM or public. One fails to fathom what JD(U) wants to extract.

As Nitish is under pressure from the lobby led by Sharad Yadav and Bijendra Prasad Yadav he is finding it difficult to wriggle out of the crisis.

As the idea of moral high ground is not yielding any result JD(U) is buying time.

Analysts are of the view that JD(U) chief knows that after the Supreme Court order on fodder scam Lalu is in trouble. Thus  this is the best time to extract one’s own pound of flesh and cut RJD to size.

The cornered RJD is not talking about its August 27 mega-rally in Patna against the BJP as it is pre-occupied in other issues.

“Nitish is fully exploiting the situation. He knows that Lalu can not affod to break alliance at this point of time, so why not indulge in twisting his wrm,” said a commentator.
