Patna,(BiharTimes): Shankar Shah of Ranibari village in Purnia district, along with his son, had to carry the body of his wife afterher death on Friday as he was denied a mortuary van at a government hospital. The private ambulance, which though was available, was beyond the reach of his pocket.
Fifty-five year old Susheela Devi died of multiple illness at the Purnia Sadar Hospital on Friday.
Reports said that notwithstanding all efforts, 60-year old Shah could not get any help from the hospital authorities. So he placed his wife’s body on a motor-cycle and held it as pillion-rider to transport it to their village home. His son rode the two-wheeler with utmost care.
Susheela was suffering from a heart disease as well as Tuberculosis.
Shah said that he could not get any vehicle for transport due to lack of money.
The district magistrate has constituted a team to probe the matter.
However, the presence of the civil surgeon in the probe team is being resented for obvious reason.
