JD-U no to reconsidering support to Kovind

New Delhi, June 22 (IANS) As RJD chief Lalu Prasad appealed to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to reconsider his decision to support NDA Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind, the JD-U on Thursday ruled out any change in its stance.

The Janata Dal-United, which is in the ruling alliance in Bihar along with the Rashriya Janata Dal and the Congress, said it had arrived at the decision on Wednesday "after considering all aspects".

The decision to support Kovind was taken after looking into all aspects, JD-U spokesperson K.C. Tyagi told IANS.

"And political decisions are not changed all the time," Tyagi, a Rajya Sabha member, said.

Tyagi's remarks came soon after Lalu Prasad appealed to JD-U President Nitish Kumar to reconsider his decision after 17 opposition parties announced former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar as their presidential candidate.

Earlier, on June 19, Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah announced Kovind as the National Democratic Alliance nominee for the July 17 presidential election.
