Lalu in damage control exercise after JD(U) goes on offensive

Patna,(BiharTimes): In a move to douse the raging fire within the Grand Alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday reportedly tried to rein in at least one of the bitter critics of chief minister Nitish Kumar.

According to sources Lalu late on Monday evening summoned Maner MLA, Bhai Birendra, and asked him not to escalate the crisis by making anti-Nitish statements.

Lalu, according to party insiders, has also asked other leaders like party vice president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh not to escalate the situation further. He also asked Tejashwi not to speak further on the presidential election targeting Nitish Kumar.

Tejashwi Prasad Yadav had on Sunday made a veiled attack on Nitish. However, on Monday he was a bit defensive.

Lalu’s action came on the day when at least five Janata Dal United leaders attacked the RJD leadership for targeting the Bihar chief minister.

The JD(U) also demanded a deadline for the sacking of RJD leaders like Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Bhai Birendra from the party who have consistently targeted Nitish.
