Bihar pays Rs four lakh to cricket fan Sohail killed in Saudi Arabia by Pakistani





Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar cabinet on Wednesday approved ex-gratia payment of Rs four lakh to the widow and two children of Indian cricket fan, Mohammad Sohail, who was killed in Saudi Arabia by his Pakistani colleague.

He was stabbed to death as he had supported the Indian cricket team in the first Champions Tropy clash held on June 4.

According to cabinet secretariat department principal secretary Brajesh Mehrotra 28-year old Sohail, who was from Madhubani district, was working as a mechanic in Saudi Arabia, was stabbed by a Pakistani colleague there a few days after the match, which India won by 124 runs.

In fact the dispute started while watching the match on television. The tension continued for a few days. It reached its climax on Jun 10 when Sohail was stabbed while he was sleeping.

Sohail left behind widow Mahjabeen Khatoon and two children.

Madhubani district magistrate Shirsat Kapil Ashok said he had got information about the murder from local people and police officials and had passed it on to the state headquarters.

An ITI diploma holder he was working with a company called Jazeera in Saudi Arabia.
