Top leader of Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party booked in fake certificate racket





Patna,(BiharTimes): Six people were arrested and the national president of the youth wing of Hindustani Awam Morcha, Gyan Prakash, was named in an FIR lodged with Kotwali police station of the state capital on Wednesday for allegedly running a fake certificate racket.

Mrinal Chakravarty, Tarun Kumar, Harshwardhan Kumar Singh, Ashok Kumar, Kumari Annu and Shailja Kumari were all arrested from their office which was being run in the name of National Rural Development Programme near Hartali Mor in Patna.

Fake certificates of Dr C V Raman University of Chhattisgarh, Swami Vivekanand University and Mahatma Gandhi University, besides stamps and other blank documents were also seized from their office. The police also seized the vehicle of Gyan Prakash, the alleged mastermind, who is considered close to former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.

 However, he could not be arrested.

According to reports Mantosh Kumar, a native of Patori in Samastipur district, lodged the FIR against Gyan, Annu and Harshwardhan and accused them of duping him of Rs 40,000 and providing fake certificate of Sambalpur University. The accused had provided a fake migration certificate of Sambalpur University in Odisha to Mantosh.

Mantosh came to know about it after assistant controller of exams of the university, in reply to his RTI application, informed him that the certificate was fake.

 Police said the gang members were duping students in the name of providing them degrees of various universities.

The national spokesman of HAM, Danish Rizwan, said Gyan had been suspended from the party for his alleged involvement in the racket.
