IAS Officers’ Association knocks at Centre’s door

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar Chapter of IAS Officers’ Association has sent a memorandum to the department of personnel and training (DoPT), the government of India stating that the 1987 batch IAS officer, Sudhir Kumar, has been falsely implicated in the leak of question papers of a clerical grade exam conducted by the Bihar Staff Selection Commission. Sudhir was its chairman, when the leadk took place.

The Association expressed its displeasure over the manner in which Sudhir was arrested.

“He was on sanctioned leave. Yet the SIT arrested him in the middle of the night from his home (in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand), brought him to Patna and produced before a court, which sent him in judicial custody till March 3,”  the memorandum said.

The memorandum said Sudhir is widely known as an upright, honest and sincere officer and had served as home secretary of Bihar.

“In the 30 years of his career as civil servant, no such allegation had ever been levelled against him,” it said.

As reported the Patna SSP, Manu Maharaj, who heads the SIT, claimed Sudhir and five of his relatives were arrested from Patna in the morning of Feb 24. He alleged that Sudhir passed on the question paper and answer keys to his brother who in turn provided them to other relatives.
