Lalu not to play Holi, backs Mayawati’s comment on EVMs

Patna,(BiharTimes): RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Saturday announced that he would not play Holi at his wife 10 Circular Road bungalow this year.

Though he said that his decision has nothing to do with the poll verdict in Uttar Pradesh, yet he hastened to add that he would play Holi only after Narendra Modi is ousted in 2019.

Lalu appeared a bit downcast by the results and initially avoided facing the media. Yet he said he would hang a ‘dhol’ (drum) around his neck and beat it after winning the 2019 general election.

However, RJD chief had celebrated Holi with a cultural show at the bungalow last year. There was reason for it as four months before his party, along with JD(U) and Congress, won Assembly elections in Bihar.

On being asked by the media for his decision he said  Bihar had been hit by a hailstorm. So he had decided not to celebrate Holi this year.

Unlike chief minister Nitish Kumar he had campaigned for SP-Congress alliance in west and east UP. One of his son-in-laws too was contesting the election.

Though Lalu welcomed the mandate in UP yet he backed BSP chief Mayawati's charge that EVMs had been doctored.

He clarified that this could not happen in Bihar as here a receipt was generated after each vote was cast. But that did not happen in UP. Besides, some parts of EVMs were made in Gujarat. It is a serious matter, he added.

Lalu strongly denied the charge that Nitish Kumar had helped the BJP by not putting up JD(U) candidates in UP and  rubbished the claim that Bihar CM would now get closer to the BJP.
