Politicians were in touch with BSSC secretary, but for counselling of ANMs

Patna,(BiharTimes): Names of politicians, cutting across party line, as well as officials, figure in the case diary of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Bihar Staff Selection Commission question paper leak racked.

But most of these recommendations were for the post of auxiliary nursing midwives (ANMs), whose counselling commenced in January this year and not for the clerical grade exams whose question papers were leaked on Jan 29 and February 5.

Two state ministers, a former Union minister and a BJP and a JD(U) MLAs either talked to the BSSC secretary Parmeshwar Ram or sent SMSes to him.

They are Cooperative Minister Alok Kumar Mehta (RJD), Law and PHED Minister Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma (JD-U), former Union minister and RJD Vice President Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, JD-U MLA from Vibhutipur, Ram Balak

Singh, and BJP MLA from Muzaffarpur, Suresh Kumar Sharma.

A SIT team led by Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj, had seized Parmeshwar Ram’s mobile phone and sent it to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for tests.

More than 200 such messages  were recovered from his mobile.

The case diary said these politicians had sent the names and roll numbers of candidates appearing in ANMs counselling to Ram asking him to consider their appointment.

One of the messages, purportedly sent by Raghuvansh Prasad Singh  said “The counselling is at 2 pm today. The candidate is like a family member.”

Cooperative minister Alok Kumar Mehta said: “We are political people and hundreds of commoners come to us with their pleas and have to oblige them. It is no secret…”

Still he said he is ready to cooperate in any investigation.

On the other hand  Manu Maharaaj said a separate investigation will have to be done for this case.

The SIT is currently investigating only the irregularities in clerical grade recruitment exam..
