Opposition creates ruckus in Assembly, demands arrest of JD(U) MLA

Patna,(BiharTimes): Opposition MLAs in Bihar Assembly on Monday created ruckus over the state government’s failure to arrest former vice chancellor of Bihar Agriculture University, Sabour, in Bhagalpur district, Mewalal Chaudhary, who is at present a JD(U) MLA.

Demanding his and former BPCC vice president Brajesh Pandey’s arrest the BJP members stalled the proceedings of both the Houses in pre-lunch session.

BJP members shouted slogans against chief minister Nitish Kumar and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad for shielding Chaudhary. They alleged that both have eaten ‘mewa’ (dry fruits), therefore, they are  defending the former VC.

The JD(U) had already suspended Chaudhary after an FIR was lodged against him last month.

Chaudhary was indicted in a 63-page report submitted to the Chancellor’s office by a probe committee, headed by retired Patna high court judge Justice Syed Mohammed Mahfooz Alam.

Surprisingly, the appointment of 161 assistant professors and junior scientists, besides a few others was made in 2012 when the BJP was very much in power along with JD(U).

BJP leader Sushil Modi and former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi accused the state government of defending Mewalal.

However, JD(U) spokesman Neeraj Kumar hotly denied that the state government is protecting him. He said that law would take its own course and none would be spared. If the BJP people know where Chaudhary is hiding it should disclose it.
