Did not form human chain outside Raj Bhawan: IAS officers to government

Patna,(BiharTimes): Responding to the Bihar government’s show cause notice IAS officials, mostly district magistrates, have explained in writing that they did not form any human chain outside Raj Bhawan on February 26. They were just waiting for a delegation of IAS Officers’ Association to come out after submitting a memorandum to the governor, Ramnath Kovind.

Reports said that all the officials sent individual replies to the state General Administration Department (GAD).

The GAD, as reported, had asked them on whose permission had they left their district headquarters to join the protests in Patna.

Though it could not be known what the DMs have said in reply to this particular query a functionary of IASOA, while talking to a section of media, claimed that most of the DMs had taken permission from their superiors concerned.

Reports said that the government also did correspondence with the Bihar Chapter of IASOA, asking it to officially state its stand on the issue.

“In our reply, we have admitted we held a meeting as Sudhir Kumar (former chairman of BSSC) is an Association member. However, we have clarified that we are not making any allegation against the state government for the arrest as there are serious charges against him. Our only concern was the manner in which he was arrested,” an IASOA office-bearer, who wished not to be named was quoted in the Times of India.

It needs to be recalled that two days after the arrest of Sudhir Kumar on February 24 the Bihar Chapter of IAS Officers’ Association called on governor Ram Nath Kovind to submit a memorandum demanding, among other things, a CBI probe into the question paper leak.

While a five-member delegation interacted with the governor, 50-odd IAS officers, including DMs, stood outside the Raj Bhawan in the shape of a human chain.

The Association had then said that it would not accept the verbal order of the chief minister.
