Govt may announces quantum of subsidy for power consumers
Patna,(BiharTimes): Under pressure from within and outside the Bihar government on Saturday said the quantum of subsidy for power consumers would be decided soon.
As reported the Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) had on Friday last hiked the tariff by an average of 55 per cent for various categories of connections.
Energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav said the state government would soon decide the amount of subsidy that would be passed on to consumers across the state.
According to him it has been decided that the subsidy amount would not be given to electricity distribution companies, but would be passed on directly to the consumers.
Reports said that urban consumers might enjoy lesser subsidy than those living in rural areas.
It needs to be recalled that not only the BJP leaders even some Grand Alliance legislators were a bit critical of the quantum of hike approved by BERC.
