Nalanda University VC resigns after sexual assault complaint against students
Patna,(BiharTimes): Following protest from students the interim vice-chancellor of Rajgir-based Nalanda University, Pankaj Mohan, resigned from his post late on Wednesday.
The students were protesting after a girl lodged a complaint of alleged sexual assault by two other students.
Reports said that one of the accused students was suspended while the other one was shifted to another hostel.
The resination came after protest by students of the University. They alleged that the VC first ignored the complaint lodged about one and a half months ago. They also asked as to why no full time VC had been appointed yet.
Mohan resigned owning ‘moral responsibility’.
In a letter to Chancellor Vijay Bhatkar, he wrote “I take moral responsibility for the problems that the University experienced in the last three days.”
