Dreaded criminal Bablu Dobey shot dead in Bettiah court

Patna,(BiharTimes): Notorious criminal Mithilesh Dubey alias Bablu Dubey was shot dead in broad-day light in Bettiah (West Champaran) civil court on Thursday morning.

The incident took place between 10 and 10:30 AM. Two bike-borne shooters fired from very close range at Bablu while he was being produced in the civil court. Bablu is accused in 36 murder cases. Besides, several other serious cases were pending against him.

His name figured prominently in the abduction of a Nepali trader a few months back. A ransom amount of Rs 100 crore was demanded for his release.

Hunt is on to nab the criminals. According to SP Bettiah Vinay Kumar it was a desperate act of criminals as there was 5-6 armned guards present there at the time of shooting.

They chased the shooters who managed to escape. The guards could not open fire, because of the crowd, the SP said adding that efforts would be made to plug the loopholes in the security arrangements.

He conceded that there was no  CCTV within the court premises, but said that it was about to be installed. The SP said that the shooters “have almost been identified”. This is not the first such killing in court in the last few years in Bihar yet police are often caught napping. Bablu’s killing is really shocking as he was among the most dreaded criminal of the state, who was arrested last year.
