2013-batch IAS Jitendra Gupta likely to be shifted to Haryana cadre

Patna,(BiharTimes): Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit of the Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Union government to consider the plea of a Bihar IAS officer, Dr Jitendra Gupta, that he be released from his parent cadre owing to what he said was threat to his life and violation of his fundamental rights.

The 2013 batch officer had been wrongly accused of accepting Rs 80,000 as bribe from truck drivers when he was SDO in Mohania in July last year and subsequently jailed. Gupta, who has since been exonerated of all charges, had filed a writ in the Supreme Court, asking for a change of cadre and demanded “exemplary” monetary compensation for damages and defamation and action against those who violated the law.

.
The apex court bench accepted the writ filed by Dr Gupta and passed an order directing the Union government “to look into his grievance and take appropriate action within three months.”
