Centre asks Bihar to stop construction of mall on Lalu’s land

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Union government has instructed the Bihar government to stop the construction of a mall on the land belonging to the family members of RJD chief Lalu Prasad in the western outskirts of Patna because environmental clearance was not taken beforehand.

It needs to be reported that Lalu Prasa’s  son Tejashwi Yadav, who is the deputy CM of Bihar, had applied for environmental clearance on April 20, after the    case came to light.

The issue was first raised by the senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi in the first week of April.

In a letter dated May 15, the Centre maintained that the mall which was being built over 71,214 square metre was violating environmental laws. As per the environmental rules and guidelines, prior clearance is needed for building projects with built up area equal to or more than 20,000 sq mt.

However, work on this mall started last year without getting any clearance.

SuMo said he had complained to the Centre over the violation of environmental laws.

On the other hand the builder, Syed Abu Dojana, who is also an RJD MLA, said that the work on the mall had already stopped several weeks back.
