Fire destroys all shops, other business centres in mall in Patna
Patna,(BiharTimes): All the 30 shops––besides, a coaching centre, a
reputed food chain restaurant, a lounge––in the five-storied mall
situated in Boring Road in Patna were gutted in a major fire on
Saturday quite early in the morning.
Fire broke out at GV Mall located at Boring Road roundabout under
Shree Krishna Puri police station.
It took about three hours for eight fire tenders to put down the
flames which spread where fast.
Prompt action by the fire-fighters saved the flames from spreading out
to the buildings in the vicinity of the mall. A petrol pump, state
headquarter of a Hindi print media, a residential building, a showroom
of electronic goods and a commercial complex shared the boundary with
the mall.
SHO of S K Puri police station Arvind Kumar said his patrolling team,
stationed at the roundabout, spotted smoke billowing from the ground
floor of the mall at around 4:45 AM.
He said after informing the emergency services the police went inside
the mall and started shouting to wake up private guards, who were
sleeping inside the building.
Eight guards were brought out from inside the mall before the fire could spread.
The reason behind the fire could not yet be known.
