Lightning, wall collapse kill about a dozen in East, West Champaran





Patna,(BiharTimes): About a dozen people lost their lives in West and East Champaran districts of Bihar in separate incidents of lightning strikes and wall collapse on Sunday noon. Eight of those killed are women.

Reports said that five people, including four women, were killed after lightning struck them in various places in East Champaran district.

According to Manoj Kumar, Senior Deputy Collector in-charge of the disaster management of the district, the deceased were identified as Kanth Lal Rai (70), Mina Devi (40), Sunita Devi (32), Veena Kumari (19) and Sushila Devi (40).

Six people were killed in separate incidents of wall collapse in West Champaran after storm lashes the entire region.

The storm had a speed between 50 and 70 km per hour. It hit other parts of the state, including Patna, too.

Manager Choudhary (45), Chandrawati Devi (55), Shambha Devi (40), Rima Kumari (14) and Paramshila Kumari (16) and Mukesh Kumar, were killed in West Champaran.
