BJP MP goes on ‘maun barat’ after his name figured in Paradise Papers

Patna,(BiharTimes): When a reporter from electronic media approached BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP R K Sinha for his reaction after his name figured in Paradise Papers the said journalist was told that he is on ‘maun barat’ for a week––that is he would not speak for a week.

Political analysts were surprised by this move of the senior BJP leader and owner of a private security agency, SIS, which employees thousands of ‘bouncers’ all over Inida.

The business empire of Patna-based Sinha is spread even outside India. He is arguably the richest politicians of Bihar, whose property run into hundreds of crores.

When the name of film star Amitabh Bachchan and her daughter-in-law Ashwariya Rai Bachchan came up in Panama Papers they clarified their position.

But Sinha adopted a different approach. Commented a political observer: “Like many other BJP leaders he took the shelter of religion. Anyway this would not save him.”

Incidentally, the name of Union minister of state for civil aviation, Jayant Sinha, who is from Jharkhand, also figured in the Paradise Papers.

He came into the limelight when in September he countered his own father and former Union minister Yashwant Sinha in a newspaper  article. Yashwant had a day earlier strongly criticised the economic policy of the Narendra Modi government.
