Patna,(BiharTimes): The special investigative team (SIT) on Thursday arrested the manager of State Bank of India, Buxar, Shiv Shankar Jha in Toilet Scam in Patna, which runs to more than Rs 14 crore.

The SIT is interrogating him.

The arrest followed reports that the Toilet Scam is not confined to Patna.

Irregularities to the tune of Rs 3.67 crore have been reported from Seohar district.

An FIR has been lodged with the Piprahi police station in Seohar by the executive engineer in the public health and engineering department (PHED), Manish Kumar.

The former mukhiya of Piprahi panchayat, Dharmendra Kumar Singh, and ward member Hari Kishore Rai are among those named accused. Rai has been arrested and sent to jail.

According to the superintendent of police Prakash Nath Mishra the case had been registered on the basis of a report submitted by officials who conducted an investigation into the construction of toilets under the centrally sponsored Swachh Bharat Mission (rural) and state government-run Lohia Swachhta Yojna schemes.

The Toilet Scam was unearthed after the infamous Rs 1,300 crore Srijan Scam in Bhagalpur.
