16 arrested as two gangs of bootleggers busted in Patna

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Patna Police late on Tuesday night busted two gangs of bootleggers who used to deliver liquor at homes in cars having “Government of India” and “Police” plates. Sixteen people were arrested and 165 bottles of liquor seized.

Raids were conducted at Mahesh Nagar and Kurji under Patliputra police station and at the Indra Nagar area under the Kankerbagh police station.

Abhishek Kumar was first arrested by Danapur police at Mahesh Nagar  while he was going to deliver liquor. Five bottles of liquor were recovered from him.

An MBA degree holder, Abhishek, who had earlier worked with Mahindra, has been supplying liquor for the past few months.

After leaving auto major he plunged into the real estate business.

It was on his information that the police arrested Sashi Kumar Singh, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, who is said to be the main supplier.

According to police Sashi used to deliver liquor at homes in his Honda Amaze car.

Sashi, a travel and tour operator who owns half a dozen vehicles, had put Government of India plates on the front and rear nameplates as according to him the car is given on rent to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials.

Police later arrested more people in this connection.

It needs to be recalled that police are regularly busting gangs engaged in illegal trade of liquor in Patna and elsewhere in Bihar.
