Woman RJD MLA gets threat call

Patna,(BiharTimes): RJD MLA, who is also a professor in Patna Women’s College has sought police protection for herself and her family members following a threat call she had received.

Ejya Yadav, who represents Mohiuddinnagar Assembly seat in Samastipur district, lodged a complaint with the Samastipur town police station on Saturday, alleging she received a threat call from a stranger.

Yadav told the police she received a call on her cellphone while returning to Patna from her constituency. The anonymous caller threatened to kill her and her family. The caller, however, did not explain the reason for his threat.

According to Samastipur superintendent of police Deepak Ranjan the first-time MLA informed him over phone about the threat to her life and her family.

Incidentally, police said, the MLA’s husband, who was in Patna, too received a similar call on his phone.

She is not the first RJD leader to receive threat call in recent months.

Last month, someone called RJD legislator  from Dhaka in East Champaran, Faisal Rahman, and threatened to eliminate him unless he coughed up Rs 20 lakh. The MLA told the East Champaran superintendent of police (SP).

Faisal received threat calls for the second time in the past six months. The police had earlier arrested a suspect and beefed up his security.

Rashtriya Lok Samta Party MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar too had received threat calls.
