BJP takes objection to CM’s campaign against dowry, child marriage

Patna,(BiharTimes): In the first open sign of disagreement between the two alliance partners of the NDA, the BJP on Thursday took strong objection to chief minister Nitish Kumar’s campaign against child marriage and dowry launched on Gandhi Jayanti Day.

Curiously, the deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, who too is a senior BJP leader, on this occasion held the foreign rule responsible for such social evils in India.

But 10 days later party MLA Nitin Navin questioned the need for the state government to launch such campaign when the BJP led government in the Centre has already initiated Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Kanya Suraksha Yojana.

He accused the Janata Dal (United) of copying the agenda of his party.

However, JD(U) spokesman Neeraj Kumar said that chief minister Nitish Kumar has already launched several social programmes for women and girls, such as distribution of bicycles, prohibition etc. He said his party has not copied anyone’s agenda.
