Srijan loot badly hits Kosi flood victims of 2008 too

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Fund Transfer Scam of Bhagalpur had badly affected victims of the 2008 Kosi flood.

According to a report published in The Telegraph the startling fact came to the fore during investigation conducted by a special team constituted by the Saharsa district administration in the aftermath of the illegal transfer of government funds to the accounts of Srijan Mahila Vikas Sahyog Samiti Limited.

Saharsa district magistrate Vinod Singh Gunjiyal said that he was taken aback over the findings of the special team headed by a deputy collector while probing the transfer of funds to the tune of Rs 162 crore to the Bank of Baroda account of Srijan between 2012 and 2013.

“The funds were meant for the acquisition of land for embankments in eight flood-affected districts under Kosi and Purnea divisions and parts of Naughachhia in Bhagalpur district. But the money was used for personal gains in collusion with officials of the special land acquisition office, bank and the NGO,” Gunjiyal told The Telegraph.

The special land acquisition officer posted at Saharsa functioned under the irrigation department and in no way was attached to the office of the district administration, the district magistrate said.
