Nitish, Lalu, Shatru differ with Centre’s policy on Rohingyas

Patna,(BiharTimes): , On a day the Union government filed an affidavit dubbing Rohingya Muslims a security threat chief minister Nitish Kumar, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha expressed a different stand on the issue.

While talking to the media on Monday Nitish said he personally feels Rohingya Muslims should be given all help.

“I have not discussed the issue within my party,” Nitish said adding “but it is my personal view that all humanitarian help should be extended to them.” He used the word ‘insaniyat’ (humanity) in this context.

Criticizing the Centre’s stand RJD chief Lalu Prasad said they are being victimised.

“Atithi devo bhawa (Guests are God) has been our culture. This is too much,” he said while leaving for Araria to attend the last rites of party MP Mohammad Taslimuddin.

BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha had on Sunday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show mercy to Rohingya Muslims without compromising with internal security.

He asked the PM to desist from a blanket ban and suggested a person-to-person security clearance instead.
